I have been pondering the system names some more - how about having 2 variables, one with an unlocalizable "native name" and one with a localizable "English" name, similar to unit names in 0AD? Then the user could choose which version to display.

I think the difficulty with these is that they are staring straight at the camera and that their bone structure is mirrored. If the left and right side of the faces was slightly assymetrical, they wouldn't look so uncanny.

-ise instead of -ize will break translations, so it's better not to worry about these. Other languages don't really care about the Cambridge vs. Oxford debate ;)

Actual grammar fixed like discrete -> discreet should go in though.

Thanks! I'll add the names to my branch later. Regarding script languages: the game still needs to be playable, and thus names should be some what intelligible, thus we can not have names in non-latin alphabets. The point of my "cultures" is not localization, but immersion. Thus Russian, Japanese, ...

Oh, and another point: These will be fine for names in directories etc. When addressing people, we will need some grammar rules for that as well. Gaelic and Slavic languages have a vocative case just like Latin did, and in English one would also address people with Mr/Ms in front of their name, righ...
