Re: Code inspiration and rendering resource

That was very cool. I love those optimization stories of how they squeeze out the most out of every single byte.

Re: Code inspiration and rendering resource

I just read this article on the wavefuction collapse for procedural generation of content. Very understandable, if one has zero knowledge going into it. https://robertheaton.com/2018/12/17/wavefunction-collapse-algorithm/ Most implementations and explanations of Wavefunction Collapse are of a full, ...

Re: My dream for entering stations / cities

We (me, nozmajner and sturnclaw) had a discussion on 3D vs 2D inner stations the other day. My position can be summarized as so: - making our current 3D orbital stations, scaled for "ship sized player interaction", takes 1-2 years for a very skilled 3D artist. - making interior for 2D station takes ...

Re: Machine learning ("AI") as a face generator

@charlieg 1. Yes we want evarchart's face gen, but... 2. ...they're currenlty only male faces, which I think is a problem, as we do have female NPCs, and he's not been heard from in years. 3. It's very difficult to "build from there", as only Evarchart draws in the style of Evarchart, and only nozma...

Re: Machine learning ("AI") as a face generator

Since I've introduced GANs, here's a paper [1] where they trained the biggest GAN to date (employing some 512 TPUs!): Check out the images in this post, for frogs with too many eyes, and horror-valey human faces: http://aiweirdness.com/post/178619746932/imaginary-worlds-dreamed-by-biggan [1] https:/...

Re: Machine learning ("AI") as a face generator

Wouldn't this be pre-generated, not at runtime? The model is trained separately from running pioneer, and can take hours or days. So at the end of training you get a model that, say, can make any image look like in the style of "The Scream" by Edvard Munch, provided the model was trained to do styl...
