Re: Interplanetary

Now I got to thinking about railguns for Pioneer. It is a hard tech item, so it would fit well with pioneer. Maybe they would be in between beam and pulse weapons in projectile speed. Maybe you'd buy clip of 100 projectiles (cheap), so limited amunition. What would set it appart, giving new game mec...

Re: [SUGGESTION] Atmospheric density indicator

Heres a simple way to compute pretty good atmosphere preassure and temperature as function of altitude:

Re: Science Mission Ideas

Simple example
Isn't this how the cargo mission works?

Similar to the scout mission that's to be made into a PR any year now...

That was impressive! And nice clouds! I guess the main article for that video has a lot of knowledge to share:

Interstellar trade - the interest problem

I just thought I'd drop this reference: Theory of interstellar trade , Paul Krugman, july 1978 This paper extends interplanetary trade theory to an interstellar setting. It is chiefly concerned with the following question: how should interest charges on goods in transit be computed when goods travel...

Hyperjump visuals

I'm starting a thread on other ways to animate the effects when jumping to hyperspace, because I think ultimately there must be cooler/better ways. E.g. interstellar (the movie) does some really interesting things. But what triggered me was: http://captaineinstein.org/ and their paper on the math: h...

Re: Code inspiration and rendering resource

Another pretty cool thing from the same blog: natural language search in code. Here are some representative query results. “queue an event to be run on the thread” vs “run an event on a thread queue” (both have similar words in the query, but are quite different). https://adriancolyer.files.wordpres...

Re: Better Galaxy Map

Yeah, current galaxy map isn't too useful. It's more of a gimick.

In frontier they squished the third dimension, to make the galaxy more flat, we don't, so distances on a 2D image would be more sane for them, than for us. But I get your point, it could still be cool to have.
