Re: Rethinking the planets

I think you've pretty much nailed it, but I think that an agricultural world would potentially be able to export more than food. Liquor, narcotics, and luxury goods like exotic body care products and perfumes and luxury textiles that could only be produced on such a world come to mind.

Re: How busy is too busy?

Wow! I think a queue system is the way to go. The player would hover and wait and accelerate time until they get landing clearance. Perhaps a VIP landing pass could be purchased which would move you up to the head of the line. As far as coping with the limited number of landing pads, just add more s...

Re: Early Oculus Rift support.

I'll probably not get an Oculus Rift, but those videos are really trippy when I do the 'cross your eyes to see the phantom 3D image in the center' thing!

Re: About atmospheric flight

I have a wish, and it's probably a big one. I wish that the aerodynamic characteristics of a ship would be consistant with its form. Maybe a few tables and you pick from the closest match. Some of the ships would have to travel at aircraft speeds through an atmosphere and some could do mach 20 as a ...

2. I'm a fan of walterar's Scout+ mod. It adds a lot of playability.
8. There are English alphabet approximations for the languages you mention. Would that be acceptable?

Re: Update to Existing Facegen

Green screen interlaced monitors in 3200? Actually that could be nice for simulating the resolution you get with the handwavium instant communication device. People in your ship and in the same spaceport as you would be in full color. It could add to the sense of immersion.

Re: 3D Cockpits

Looking at the experimental cockpit, I see that the simulated info screens would be a bit too small to read. Could there be a mouse-over or mouse-click function that would expand the screen so the player could read and interact with it? For example moving the mouse over the screens would make them p...

Re: Face Generator Art

This is probably a streatch, but would it be possible to animate the faces? I'm thinking of having them blink and look around and appear to mouth words when they talk to you. Maybe even yawn if ther'e bored.

Also, this is a system that's 5 light years wide! It seems that Pioneer doesn't have solar systems that are unrealistically large at all.

Re: G-force Meter

First of all, this isn't a waste of time any more than is any other hobby. :) Looking at our technological progress over the past 2 centuries, I don't think we can even make an educated guess about what would be realistic tech in the year 3200. I personally doubt that humans will even exist in our p...
