I think this subject is being overthought. If Pioneer becomes a totally realistic simulator it will take the fun out of it for many, if not most people. In a station that rotates to make 'gravity', up is the direction to the axis of rotation and down is the direction away from it. It's something that is often portrayed wrong in science fiction, with windows that would be in the floor. I'm not sure if that's the case here.

The hull texture is getting better, but I don't think the yellow window looks very good, especially on a military vessel. Perhaps red?

I really like the backstory idea. Would the text be in the data/ships/<shipname>.lua file with a tag to tell the game how to display it?
