I'd say, in a new game it should be random. Then the player could pay for the customization, if the green-pink polkadots scheme won't cut it. Another thing to strive for, another point of decision to wether tho cough up the money for such frivolity.

I was thinking about using the github wiki function for this kind of in-game stuff. It uses markdown, which is rather nice, and could be easily updated. And then only stuff that is intended in-game would go in there, so it is easier to maintain. Not sure how translations would be handled that way th...

The default cockpit is supposed to be a closed bubble with screens all around showing camera feeds. Which admittedly doesn't show the scale of the ship much. Put inside the ship, possibly as an upgrade eventually for better view (and standard on actual military craft) The Varada is about the size of...

There's no such option (yet). You can toggle all the HUD, but that's hardly useful in your use case. It would be useful to be able to filter/hide the icons. Although it was never a problem for me.
