Toggle destination icons

Post by Bugbear » Sun Jun 21, 2020 4:06 am

Hey all, I'm not sure how to search for this as I don't know the specific name.

Is it possible to toggle the visibility of the destination icons? I just like to see the planet grow from a single pixel to covering the screen.

My use case is when I'm traveling to a planet and not using autopilot, I need to aim my target vector so that it is just to the side of the planet. I find that the destination icon covers the planet and so I can't accurately adjust my vector until I'm close enough for the planetary disk to be larger than the icon covering it.

What should I be looking for in the code that would configure this behaviour?

Cheers.

There's no such option (yet). You can toggle all the HUD, but that's hardly useful in your use case.
It would be useful to be able to filter/hide the icons.

Although it was never a problem for me. I usually fly towards the planet, and correct when it is large enough. And since you are braking at that time, it is fairly easy to correct your trajectory, at least it was for me. And it won't eat up much propellant either.
